An API creates the connection between the two systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The basic flow looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WordPress \u2192 REST API \u2192 Astro \u2192 HTML \u2192 Browser<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WordPress manages the content. The API makes that content available to another application. Astro receives the data and decides how that information should be presented on the webpage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This architecture gives developers the opportunity to combine the content-management capabilities of WordPress with the performance and flexibility of a modern frontend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At ControlRev, we are exploring this architecture as part of the development of a multilingual, API-driven web platform.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A modern website does not have to keep all of its content and presentation in the same system.
